The Health Law Section of The Florida Bar joins with family, friends, colleagues, the Bench and The Bar to grieve for the loss caused by the death Saturday of Stanley W. Rosenkranz. At the same time, The Health Law Section celebrates Stanley's fulfilling life, distinguished career and his permanent legacy.
The Health Law Section particularly mourns Stanley's death because it loses its founder and very first chair. Stanley was instrumental in marshalling nearly 400 health lawyers in 1988 to create the Health Law Section of The Florida Bar and then led it in its formative years. Since then, the Section has become a significant participant in health care in Florida, and nationally, through its nearly 1,400 members located throughout Florida and practicing elsewhere in the country, some of whom have gained additional distinction by becoming officially recognized as certified health lawyers. Stanley contributed significantly not only to the inception of the Health Law Section, but he also enriched it throughout his career by being active in its efforts, including a desire to attend the inaugural Council of Chairs meetings this June when each chair was honored by the Section with a medal and an award certificate. Although he wasn't able to personally attend, he did receive the Health Law Section's highest honor, the Chris Rolle Medal of Honor, which was conferred in June of 2004. His medal, which was awarded for his exemplary service, is permanently inscribed with this fitting testimony:
